West Hollywood-based self-taught producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter if u take me home. is the musical project of 28-year-old Jon Benward, constantly finding new ways to reflect himself and the ever-changing world through his music.
With inspirations like PARTYNEXTDOOR, The Weeknd, Majid Jordan, and Bryson Tiller, you'd that that if u take me home.'s sound is strictly r&b, but that's far from the truth. Growing up looking forward to blasting the radio on long car rides, a young Benward thought bands like Sum 41, Blink 182, and All American Rejects offered the most exciting music to hear.
After being gifted a guitar during high school, if u take me home. began his musical journey with help from influences like Jimmy Hendrix and Prince. His love for music then led to his first band. Picture this; it's senior year, and the principal asks the class to write an accomplishment they'll achieve by graduation.
Not knowing this would be announced over the PA, Benward wrote that his band would tour the eastern seaboard. While the entire room thought it was a joke, two years later, Benward was sitting in his tour van in Massachusetts, realizing his band had toured every major venue on the east coast.
Although if u take me home.'s pop-punk background was a great way to build his chops, the singer-songwriter knew it wasn't his destined path and turned to his unique take on modern r&b as a way to fully express himself.
